South Carolina State Housing Finance & Development Authority (SC Housing) launched a $272 million program to assist South Carolina residents in need of rental and utility assistance whose finances have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. View the press release announcing that residents are encouraged to apply for rental, utility help through SC Stay Plus.
Those who qualify for SC Stay Plus may receive up to 12 months of assistance for late rent payments and late utility payments dating back to March 13, 2020.
South Carolina residents in 39 counties are eligible to participate in the program. View more information on the SC Stay Plus program.
The following seven counties were directly funded by the U. S. Treasury Department and will provide their own rental assistance program: Anderson, Berkeley, Charleston, Greenville, Horry, Richland and Spartanburg.
