The South Carolina Department of Social Services is providing up-to-date information for child care providers and parents on its website. View up-to-date information at  

The SC Department of Social Services (DSS) must grant approval for temporary child care operations.  Effective Aug. 1, 2020, applications will be available for organizations interested in providing school time care, e-learning care, virtual learning care, and/or extended school time care due to schools not providing in-classroom instruction. Parents returning to work whose child care provider remains closed can use the Child Care Resource & Referral online form to find child care.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website has useful information concerning guidance for childcare programs that remain open.
